Laying the groundwork

As we prepare to climb onboard our outbound plane and lift off the ground I wanted to share some departing thoughts. Our short visit this time around has been so very profitable for the future of the Nest mission.

The Scripture says, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10.

Over the last four years God has been laying the groundwork on which we stand today. In our hearts and life’s He’s been preparing a fertile soil for the seed of the mission to grow. Every trial and turning point fashioned to bring good works into our hands. Sorrow turned to singing. The power of God to transform is awesome to behold. We walk in the fear of the Lord, as awed by His created beauty as we are by the abundance of His gentle heart towards us.

Most of the time down here in Talamanca we feel as though we’re just running and trying to keep up with how God is moving. In it we find a lot of joy, responsibility, humbleness, and a daily reminder that we are not particularly gifted or special, just privileged to be in the place of surrender to be used as God sees fit. And the calling is here, so here we are.

We have laid some amazing groundwork in securing the Nest land, a base camp of operation, and the right people to administrate the various components at this stage of the project.

Karina has also had rich and spirit filled sessions with her teammates. In those times laying a groundwork of traditions as a source of unity and accountability to the Nest mission as a charter and a perspective of authority in which God remains central with everyone else on equal footing to follow where He leads.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

So as we prepare for reentry into our lives in America, we do so with our hearts still gripped by how God is continuing to bless the Nest as we feel His spirit beneath our little wings. We are also so grateful and reminded of the great many of you are so totally part of what is happening with the Nest. Your investments of time, prayer, finances, and caring about what’s going on really, really matter. God sees all of us, He moves all of our hearts at the right time, in the right place, and in just the right way for His mission of redeeming our hearts as we simply declare His love for the world.

Just as all the little bits and pieces of this complex airplane I’m sitting in are put together for the sole purpose of defying gravity, all of us in the Nest community and the larger Christian fellowship are each empowered to do our part, and it means everything to do it together for something that matters and will last beyond our own lives. I read in my morning devotional today that

“We weren't created to live a normal life whose impact only lasts for this life. God longs to use us because he loves us. He's not selfish. He wants to work with us. He wants our life’s to matter. He wants us to have eternal reward for the things we do here on earth because he's a good Father who longs to give good gifts to his children”.

And so just has the ground lifts away and the land and its' houses become little dots down below, our eyes are changed forever in the eternal perspective of what God has shown us.

May He bless and lift each of you up today to see things as He does.
