Dear Friends of The Nest,
We are excited to introduce you to the newest addition to The Nest—our Saanen dairy goat farm.
You may be asking, Why goats?
If you know us well, then you know that at the heart of The Nest is a simple philosophy: pray hard, work hard, and never waste an opportunity to build something that brings glory to God.
Our goats are not simply another agricultural venture. They are becoming part of God’s provision for this ministry in many different ways.
For many of the children, youth, and families we serve, animals provide something difficult to describe but easy to witness. They create a safe place to slow down, to laugh, to nurture, and to heal. Research continues to affirm what we’ve experienced firsthand: caring for animals can reduce anxiety, build confidence, restore trust, and become a powerful part of healing from trauma. We have watched God use His creation to minister to wounded hearts, and these gentle dairy goats are already becoming part of that story.
Practically, they also help us become better stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. Instead of continually purchasing milk and cheese for our home and ministry, we can produce our own. Every liter of milk we don’t have to buy is another resource that can be invested into the children and families we serve.
And beyond meeting our own needs, these goats represent another step toward long-term sustainability. Alongside our coffee, cacao, vanilla, eggs, and other products from The Nest, they will allow us to produce and sell fresh goat milk, artisan cheeses, soaps, and other handmade products. Each of these enterprises helps strengthen the ministry so that we can rely less on donations over time while creating meaningful work and opportunities within our community.
Over the years, our Bribri friends have taught us something beautiful: there is dignity in hard work. Keeping our hands busy and our hearts focused has become one of God’s greatest gifts to us. For those of us who have walked through unspeakable hardships in childhood and adulthood, meaningful work has been part of God’s healing. It gives purpose. It quiets anxiety. It pushes back against despair. And every now and then, we are given the incredible privilege of watching God move before our very eyes—faithfully providing, guiding, and sustaining this humble ministry.
So… why a dairy goat farm?
Because God keeps blessing us.
Because He can.
Because through Him, we can.
And because we love.
We love God deeply, and we love every one of you who has chosen to walk alongside this mission. We want you to know that every gift you give is matched with our commitment to steward it well. We will continue working as hard as we can to help sustain this ministry and create opportunities that bless the Bribri community.
People often ask, “Where is God?”
He is everywhere.
He is in your homes, your workplaces, your churches, your generosity, your prayers, and your faithful giving.
And He is here.
He is in the work of our hands, in the land He has entrusted to us, in our worship, and in every seed we plant. He is in the coffee, cacao, vanilla, and now the dairy goats that will help sustain this mission. He is in the tears of Nayu and in the laughter of our children and youth. He is present in every life being transformed through His love.
Together, we are building more than a farm.
We are cultivating hope.
We are creating opportunities.
We are helping build a small glimpse of heaven here on earth.
